Michela Giorelli is an Emmy award-winning content executive with a long-standing track record in documentary and non-fiction storytelling across Latin America, the U.S. Hispanic market, and global platforms. She works as a consultant and Executive Producer on several international documentary and unscripted projects.
For more than 25 years, Giorelli served as Head of Original Productions for Discovery Latin America/US Hispanic. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in the development and execution of over 10,000 productions for the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American markets, many of which have been nominated for and received prestigious industry accolades, including U.S. and International Emmy awards. Her diverse portfolio includes the development and production of documentary and true crime series such as Massacre of the Mormons, Menem Junior: The Death of a President’s Son, Garavito: The Serial Beast, and Dossier Chapecoense Tragedy -all currently available on HBO Max. She also spearheaded feature documentaries including Caravans, Children at the Border, Castro: The World’s Most Watched Man, Chico Mendes: The Price of the Forest, and Latinos on Death Row.
Giorelli also led the creation of reality series such as Mexicanicos and Texas Trocas, in addition to overseeing successful Latin American adaptations of formats like Naked and Afraid, Amazing Race, What Not to Wear, While You Were Out, Wife Swap, and Ten Years Younger.
Until recently, Giorelli served as Vice President of Unscripted Production for NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, where she developed innovative IPs and oversaw primetime series such as Los 50.
Born in Turin, Italy, and raised in Latin America, Giorelli moved to the United States to study communications at Emerson College in Boston. She later earned a master’s degree in film production from American University in Washington, D.C., and worked on internationally renowned films such as The Godfather III, Johnny Stecchino, and Where Angels Fear to Tread.
