About me
Augusto Michelis Cafaro is a Uruguayan audiovisual archivist, broadcast workflow specialist and systems developer with over sixteen years of hands-on experience in television archives, production and media technology. Between 2010 and 2020, he was responsible for the recovery, digitisation and operational reuse of the historical archive of Teledoce, one of Uruguay’s leading broadcasters, supporting producers, newsrooms and archival television programmes. His practice combines analogue tape restoration, long-term preservation, production support, metadata workflows and self-taught software development born directly from archival needs. Over the years, this practical work evolved into large-scale systems for timecode-based access, contextual metadata, editorial knowledge retrieval and AI-assisted media workflows. His broader experience also includes sports broadcasting, video post-production, newsroom operations and intelligent workflow design for high-volume media environments. His current work focuses on connecting archival integrity with editorial speed, automation and scalable broadcast infrastructures.
