Mpho Dintwa is a Botswana-based filmmaker and PhD candidate in Film and Television department at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. Mpho's research focuses on documentary filmmaking, archives, and the reconstruction of historical narratives, particularly in relation to Botswana’s role in the anti-apartheid liberation struggle.Mpho’s work explores the intersection of memory, archival absence, and visual storytelling, using practice-based research to examine how documentary film can function as a tool for reconstructing and reinterpreting history. He is the founder of Box Screen Pictures, a production company dedicated to developing films that engage with historical, social, and cultural narratives in Southern Africa.His recent projects include Ties That Bind, a documentary film on the life of Michael Dingake, both of which investigate the role of archives and oral histories in shaping public memory
